Mountains
In Barcelona and L'Hospitalet del Llobregat, cities where I carried out this project - although it happens everywhere - there are some buildings that, superb and presumptuous, stand out for their shapes and their magnitude. And they achieve even more prominence thanks to the architects who, claiming their attention and authorship, sign them.
Names such as Ricard Bofill, Bruce Graham, Josep Antoni Coderch, Manuel Valls, Rafael Moneo, Richard Meier, Jean Nouvel, Òscar Tusquets, Toyo Ito, Enric Miralles, Benedetta Tagliabue, David Chipperfield and many others are self-explanatory.
These creators have carried out designs that are characterized, among other aspects, by the use of materials with a strong technical load, while generating compositions of symmetrical shapes, often based on geometric volumes. The buildings, magnificent, make up new landscapes in which the pre-existing perspective has been substantially modified or even disappeared.
These formal aspects, the implementation and imposition of new realities and new views, are what interested me when making the images, in which the perspective determines the framing. Trying to do an exercise in which the form returns to the origin (it goes without saying that many of the materials that have been used to build these buildings have been borrowed from the mountains), they become mountains of unusual appearance. A landscape has been destroyed to build a new one, nature has been transformed into technology.
